"Go West" is the room that we decided to play before the main part of our The Room trip - The Lost Treasure of Alexander von Humboldt. This was definitely fun and enjoyable, however can't really be compared to The Lost Treasure. It serves well the purpose of warming up your excitement before getting your hands on the bigger thing. It's not an amazing escape room, but surely a worth doing solid one.
In some way it is kind of generic old room, so there is not really that much of an area to show excellence in decor, but I think this room did well in what it could have done. Maybe for players older than me it touches somewhat close to the heart what can add some level of nostalgia to it. It surely hides some secrets and surprises.
It did well in the area that I really like to see but which barely any escape room incorporates - trolling players :)
I liked puzzles in this game. Some of them were somewhat standard, but many of them had some nice ideas within them and we generally felt entertained by them. However beware that this room has some search-heavy element in it. We fortunately were not stuck on it, but there is a possibility some teams will. Regarding the level of difficulty it felt like one on the easier side. Our not very hasty team escaped in 40 minutes without hints.
I think that the end could be filled more with the puzzles, it felt kind of like a wasted potential to me.
And take into account that this room is really old as well, if I recall correctly it was built in the beginning of 2015. This adds to the general impression of it.
By the way, what is that mysterious title of this review I decided to use which is written in some clingonian language? Pet Shop Boys have a song called "Go West" and Polish football fans often sing "Polska biało-czerwoni" to the melody of this song :).
In my new rating scale that I decided to adapt (1-horrible, 2-ok, possibly flawed, 3-good, worth doing, 4-very good, 5-extraordinary) I grade this at:
Set design: 4
Something original: 4
Did I have fun?: 4
